For example, if a customer uses 11 units and your tiers look like this: With graduated pricing, the total at the end of the period is calculated by multiplying the amount by the usage for each tier, and then adding the totals for each tier. The customer is charged 33 USD (3 USD × 11). With volume-based pricing, the total due at the end of the period is calculated by multiplying the amount for that tier by the usage. When you set the billing_scheme to tiered, you have two modes to choose from: volume and graduated. In a metered example, a broadband provider might charge 25 USD for the first GB used and then 1 USD for every subsequent gigabyte. For example, a chat service might charge 2 USD per user for the first 10 users, then 1 USD per user for each user beyond the first 10. Tiered pricing allows you to change the cost per unit as quantity or usage increases. More complex pricing models can be built with tiered pricing ( billing_scheme='tiered'), which can be combined with licensed or metered usage.
